Remediation Services
A concern with any PFAS remediation endeavor is Total Oxidizable Precursors (TOP). Oxidizable precursor compounds are those that can be oxidized and result in the production of additional PFAS compounds. Our effective treatment approach combats the complexities of PFAS treatment. BAM’s sorptive properties allow for the removal of TOP compounds in addition to the PFAS compounds present resulting in better reductions of PFAS.
ORIN’s approach to free product removal utilizes chemical injection and simultaneous vacuum extraction via adjacent wells also known as “Inject-and-Extract”.
Chemical Injection – ORIN’s blend of oxidants and catalyzing agents allow the contaminant mass to be desorbed from the soil formation for enhanced recovery in the short term. Remaining oxidants continue to degrade contaminants after implementation for extended treatment.
The Extraction Process – Vacuum extraction is applied simultaneously to chemical injection via vacuum truck. Extraction locations are positioned intermittently throughout the treatment area. Contaminant desorption occurs as the treatment chemical is drawn through the impacted soils from adjacent injection points.
ORIN uses pneumatically driven chemical resistant pumps and equipment. Our purpose-built equipment allows for continual monitoring or flow rate, pressure, and total volume. Shut-off valves, check valves and spill/leak containment systems are positioned at numerous locations throughout the delivery system ensuring safe operations.
ORIN uses state of the art equipment that permits injection of treatment solutions tailored to the exact needs of the site.
ORIN’s purpose-built trailers are designed for continuous injection at multiple locations within the site saving both time and money. The project trailers contain all necessary treatment chemistry blending and delivery equipment.
ORIN provides Inject-and-Extract services to assist in free product or other contaminant mass removal. Extraction draws in treatment chemistry from adjacent injection points providing hydraulic control and more precise placement of injected chemicals. As the chemistry is drawn through the subsurface, contaminant mass becomes mobilized and more easily recovered via extraction.
ORIN utilizes two primary methods of in situ soil blending, backhoe and rotary mixing.
ORIN’s proprietary mobile dosing trailers afford efficient and precise mixing of necessary treatment chemistries on site, delivering cost savings and on-schedule completion of in situ soil treatment projects.
Soils can be treated from hazardous to non-hazardous criteria or meet other site goals, allowing for cost effective disposal options or to be left in place.
ORIN provides in-house laboratory services to help ensure our client’s site-specific goals are met. Lab testing prior to implementation in the field provides useful information. This information can be used to determine the most effective chemistry and required loading rates.
